'Little Leslie' American Fringetree

'Little Leslie' is a grafted plant from an American Fringetree that developed dwarf characteristics. It is extremely floriferous and very fragrant. It is a dwarf plant, only reaching about 5' tall in 30 years. To date, no fruit has been seen. It is named after Dave's wife, Leslie.




HISTORY



American Fringetree was one of Thomas Jefferson's favorite trees and he planted it all over his home at Montecillo. In the south, it is usually grown single stem while in the northern states, it is grown multistem. Fringe like flowers are fragrant and hang down just a foliage is beginning to appear in May. It will tolerate full sun to fairly shady areas.
